MTW offers the opportunity to join groups of people keen to speak English and enthusiastic about theatre.

Each group meets for approximately 90 minutes once a week, and there are sometimes extra meetings arranged when necessary. We spend several weeks in October-November playing with theatre, doing basic acting and voice exercises, then we get down to preparing a play for production in May or June of the following year.

We sometimes have the opportunity to “tour” with our productions: for example we have performed in Mac Mazzieri Theatre, Pavullo, and our Teens group was selected to perform in Assisi in October 2009.

The leader of the groups, Jane, plays the double role of director and writer, but the groups themselves give an extremely important contribution in creating the plays, suggesting and developing subject, plot, cast, scenery, music, dance, publicity ... in fact all aspects of theatre. MTW is not an English course, neither is it a professional acting school. It’s simply a marvellous chance to practise English while having fun, forming a strong friendship group and tasting the world of theatre.

There are no auditions: the only prerequisite is a good level of English and a great commitment to regular involvement in the activity.

This year, 2009/2010, there are six groups:

Young adults aged 19 -25, meeting on Friday at 7pm
Adults any age, Monday at 8pm
Adults any age, Wednesday at 8pm
Teenagers 16 – 19, Wednesday at 6pm
Teenagers 14 – 17, Wednesday 2.30 pm
Youngsters 11 – 14, Wednesday 4pm.
