Welcome to the 2011-2012 season, Modena Theatre Workshop’s eleventh year.
Last season’s shows were all amazing ... look at the albums by clicking on the Facebook link to your right.
This year, we’ll be meeting in the lovely Sala Spontini, corner of via Gaspare Spontini and Via Bonacini. To join a group, all you need is a good command of English (all sessions are conducted in English only) and a great deal of enthusiasm. We’ll do some theatre games and exercises, then choose a play to perform, and follow every step of production and rehearsal until a great final performance in the theatre.
We begin on 5th October, each sessions lasts 90 minutes, and we meet weekly except for school holidays until the final show which is in May or early June.
This year, MTW is making a donation to the street children’s project Blue Dragon in Hanoi.

Once upon a time there was a young native speaker ... but she was like no other teacher. From the shores of the faraway, enigmatic Tasmania, Jane Elizabeth Read overturned the English classes of half the schools of Modena, making the students in her loving care --- horror of horrors! --- perform in English in front of an audience!
The experience was traumatic yet inspiring and now after over ten years of frenetic activity, Modena Theatre Workshop is the most important English theatre company in the Province, and indeed the only one of its kind in Italy.
MTW has six groups of all ages and over the years (see our history page) we’ve adapted everything from the classics – Shakespeare, Wilde – to modern writers – Simon, Wesker, Woody Allen and we’ve often written our own original plays.
We begin again in September, so if you love theatre, and your English level is reasonable ... join us!

C’era una volta una madrelingua … ma non era come le altre. Approdata nella italica penisola dalle scogliere della lontana e misteriosa Tasmania, Jane Elizabeth Read ha stravolto i programmi delle scuole di mezza Modena, costringendo gli ignari studenti sottoposti alle sue amorevoli cure - udite udite - a parlare inglese davanti a tutti!
L’esperienza è stata traumatica e rivelatrice e oggi, con più di dieci anni di attività, il Modena Theatre Workshop è la più importante compagnia di teatro in lingua inglese della provincia. L’Emmetidaboliù (MTW) conta sei gruppi di tutte le età, attivi e prolifici: negli anni sono stati affrontati autori di grosso calibro (Shakespeare, Wilde, Simon) e di nicchia, senza risparmiarsi nella stesura di ambiziosi copioni originali.
La stagione 2010 – 2011 inizierà in settembre, perciò se amate il teatro e parlate inglese un po’ decentemente, c’è un ruolo per voi!
